Office Plants Keep Bad Air Out of Lungs

Medical Daily recently stated that office plants can help to clear toxins from the air and aid in keeping the workplace a healthy and productive environment. “The furnishings, upholstery, building materials and cleaning products used in an office can emit several indoor air pollutants,” farming and gardening expert Jodi Helmer explained, “Indoor air quality is also negatively affected by outdoor pollutants, such as pollen, bacteria, and mold. The indoor air may quality be worse in an office because of inadequate ventilation, especially if it’s located in an older building.”

This is where office plants become incredibly useful.

Absorbing Harmful Toxins

Scientific studies have found that plants not only release oxygen but they can also suck impurities deposited by furniture, products and other pollutants out of the air to prevent illness such as sore throats and colds. According to research conducted by NASA, the areca palm was rated the most air-purifying plant, so be sure to incorporate one of these beauties in your workplace!

Even the potting soil of your office plants can act as a natural air filter, clearing the air of unpleasant and dangerous pollutants expelled throughout the day and putting more oxygen into it. NASA's research also supports this claim
