Funky Yukka staff get Pretty Muddy for Cancer Research
We are extremely proud of two of our office team members for doing their bit to raise money and awareness for cancer research. Rachael and Natasha, who have both been treated for breast cancer, took part in a 5K Race For Life, held at Trentham Gardens in June. The girls, along with the 7 other members of their support group who all met during treatment at Stoke and Stafford hospitals, are now looking forward to Pretty Muddy, a Race for Life event designed for children and families. Attendees can expect to be end up completely covered head to toe in mud - scrambling through nets, space hopping through muddy pool and just having a lot of fun whilst helping out a good cause.

Rachael told the Express and Star; 'We had an amazing time at Race for Life and we’re all very excited about taking part in Pretty Muddy and having an excuse to get covered in mud from head to toe. As well as raising money for a great cause, it will be a chance to have a brilliant laugh and enjoy some camaraderie with friends – something we think is really important in recovering from breast cancer.”
Rachael, our office assistant here at Funky Yukka, was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2016, whereas Natasha, Operations and Accounts manager, was diagnosed in early 2017. Both ladies are happily cancer free and continue to support their friends who are currently undergoing treatments and surgeries. Rachael added, “Most of the women in the group are either actively in treatment or just coming to the end of it. We’re a really varied bunch, from all walks of life. Once you come to the end of treatment, the appointments and support fall away and people can feel very alone. That’s why getting together with other women who have been through the same thing is so important. It’s not all over when it’s over – for many people the aftermath of cancer is the hardest bit."
Well done ladies, the entire Funky Yukka team are all behind you!
